Manuel Lecuona participates on the FERRERE Company Law and Corporate and Commercial teams. He provides advice on merger and acquisition processes, and is also involved in litigation and corporate conflicts.

For several years Manuel Lecuona has been advising local and multinational companies with interests in Uruguay. His professional performance in recent years has garnered over twenty mentions in Latin Lawyer for his participation in complex deals. Among them was the acquisition by the world mining giant VALE of the Río Tinto business in Uruguay, and purchase by another multinational of the Uruguayan paper producer Fanapel. He has also been mentioned for his collaboration on the establishment in Uruguay of the US firm Groupon. He recently participated in the acquisition of a first-class bank, as well as in various risk capital transactions.

Chambers 2017 recognized him in the Corporate/M&A area. Clients underscore “his knowledge of corporate topics, untiring work rate and the global focus to his analysis."

In the corporate conflicts area he has handled many conflicts among shareholders or between shareholders and directors, with a high success rate and client satisfaction.

In recent years he has played a relevant role in the energy sector, leading various projects related to installation of renewable energy ventures. In this sector he participates on a regular basis in advising the German firm Enercon. In the traditional energy area Manuel provides on-going assistance to Petrobras, both on transactions involving fuel distribution and in the gas sector.

He has published scholarly articles and has been a professor of Company Law and Corporate Finance at Universidad ORT Uruguay since 2009. Manuel Lecuona studied law at Universidad de la República (Uruguay), where he earned his degree as Attorney in 2005. He has done graduate work in Company Law at Universidad de Montevideo, and during 2011 attended the Academy of American and International Law sponsored by the Southwestern Institute for International and Comparative Law, in Dallas, Texas. He is a member of the Uruguayan Bar Association. In 2015 he was also appointed professor of Commercial Contracts at Universidad de Montevideo."
